Tip Number One:

do not spend all of your time fighting the OCD itself, whereas OCD is just a symptom of the existing unexcity. In other words, because you are feeling anxious, you are experiencing OCD and it makes a lot of sense to learn how to fight the unexcity itself along with fighting the OCD, so that you solve the problem from its core.

Tip Number Two:

fight OCD with OCD thoughts. OCD is about repetitive thoughts that come into your mind all of the time and that bother you a lot and put a pressure on you up until you do the compulsion or you do the unwanted action. However, if every time you got the thought, you replied with another obsessive thought then probably your thoughts will weaken. In other words, if you're on each time to this thought with something like, no, I shot my door because I heard the sound of the door when I locked it. So when you respond with a logical factual argument to the obsessive thought, the obsessive thought weakens, not immediately but after some time it will weaken as you keep responding with the same obsessive response.

And this leads me to Tip Number Three:

When you argue with your OCD, as in respond to the OCD with another obsessive thought, respond only with a factual argument. Do not talk about something vague because your mind will not accept it. In the previous example, say something like, I heard the door shutting, I heard the sound of the door. So this is why I locked the door. Every time your mind tells you the door is open, you respond saying something like, no, the door is closed because I heard the sound. And of course, this has to be a fact. So always respond with facts and this will weaken the OCD thought over time ofcourse.

Tip Number four:

I said in a previous article about OCD that reinforcing the OCD or doing any kind of compulsion is only gonna strengthen your thought and is only gonna strengthen the obsessive thought and make it stronger. So under all conditions, resist, I know it's torturing, I know it's terrible but try to resist and not to take any kind of action for that will weaken the thought as the time passes.

Tip Number Five:

I said to deal with an anxiety sometimes you can visualize the worst case and prepare yourself for it. However, with OCD, this might not always be a good idea because after all, if you are visualizing the worst case, then you might be telling yourself indirectly that your delusional obsession is correct. You are actually enforcing the delusional obsession by saying, okay, the worst case is gonna happen. Instead, think about a logical argument that you can respond with that proves that you have done the action that you believe we didn't do it.

Tip Number Six:

you are not compelled to do the action. So many sufferers of OCD feel terrible when they get the OCD thought and when they get a terrible thought because they believe that they have to act and that they are forced to act. However, you are not forced to act and you are not compelled to act. You can get the thought, resist the thought, up until it passes, it might take hours, it might take minutes, it might take days but in the end it will pass away. So do not take the action you are not compelled to take the action.

Tip Number Seven:

visualize the action that you did. If you do not remember that you have done something, visualize that you have done it and this will send another positive obsession to your obsessive thought and make it seem like you have already done it. So respond to the obsessive thought with an obsessive visualization. Of course, this has to be based on something true and not just mere visualization.

Tip Number Eight:

and this is very good news for people who suffer from OCD. You might think that when you get an obsessive thought that is gonna be there forever up until you take the action but that's totally wrong. The thoughts do weaken. After some time, they will weaken all the time. Maybe it would take minutes, maybe it would take hours but in the end the thought will weaken if you resist it taking the action. So never take the action for that would reinforce the cycle of the OCD and again I'm reminding you and reassuring you that the thoughts are gonna weaken on their own.

Finally Tip Number Nine:

Some people say that it's all about learning how to deal with uncertainty and handle uncertainty in order for an anxiety and OCD to go away but that's a terrible advice because we as humans do not like uncertainty and it doesn't appeal to our minds in any possible way. Dealing with OCD and anxiety is not about handling uncertainty but it's about handling your fears. It's about learning how to face your worst fears. It's about learning how to look your fears into the eye. It's about learning how to face the fear that caused an anxiety and that caused the OCD in the first place. Face your fears and your OCD is gonna go away.
